Directors Australia's commitment to sustainable business practices.
TRAVEL & MEETINGS
Walk or use public transport to attend meetings, site visits, etc., where practical, unless cost or time prohibitive
Avoid meetings in person where virtual alternatives are practical. Time meetings effectively to avoid multiple trips.
Reduce the need for staff travel by supporting alternative working arrangements, including working from home.
Purchase carbon credits when booking flights.
PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT & RESOURCE CONSUMPTION
Minimise use of paper and other office consumables
Identify opportunities to reduce waste and recycle, where possible (including redundant electronic equipment)
Reduce energy consumption by using natural light, where possible, and purchasing energy conserving equipment and consumables, such as efficient lightbulbs. Turn off lights and equipment when not in use.
Seek to purchase electricity from a supplier committed to renewable energy (where feasible due to office leasing arrangements)
Conserve water and prefer non-disposable drink containers
Use environmentally friendly cleaning products, prefer reduced packaging, and purchase fair trade and/or organic products, where possible.
WORK PRACTICES
Ensure equality, inclusion, and respect for diversity are practised in the workplace
Facilitate employee wellbeing by prioritising health and safety, flexible job design, skill development, and work-life balance
Encourage voluntary work within the local community and environmental or social impact organisations
Prefer suppliers with aligned sustainability values
Include a copy of the Sustainability Policy on the Directors Australia website and in proposals to clients.
