Directors Australia are delighted to be working with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) to recruit an independent committee member to the Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee (FARM).

About RACGP
Established over 60 years ago, the RACGP is the voice of general practitioners (GPs) throughout Australian cities and in rural and remote Australia.

Australia’s GPs see more than two million patients each week. The RACGP supports members to be involved in all areas of care, including aged care, mental health, preventive care and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

The RACGP is an Australian public company and a promotion charity with the ACNC.

The board is seeking candidates who are passionate about RACGP’s work and meet the selection criteria outlined below.

Selection criteria
This role will likely suit a previous or current CIO or IT consultant. The successful candidate must be able to meet the following criteria:

  1. Demonstrated skills and experience in digital transformation including the enablement and/or upgrading of systems to sustain growth

  2. Systems architecture experience including information reporting and experience in developing an IT roadmap

  3. A strong understanding of IT governance and cyber risks

  4. The ability to critically assess company financial and operational performance through the application of skills, experience and personal qualities

  5. Experience at committee level including a sound working knowledge of corporate governance systems and frameworks, and an ability to apply that support to the FARM Committee

  6. The ability to work effectively within a member based organisation including liaising with, and gaining the trust and respect of members

Candidates are to have demonstrated prior Audit and Risk Committee experience, which may include reporting to or attending Audit and Risk Committees as an executive.  

As a national organisation RACGP are seeking a candidates based across Australia.

Time commitment
There are approximately 6 committee meetings a year with half via Zoom and the remaining face to face in Melbourne. Meetings are approximately 2 hours.

Independent committee members are also invited to attend the annual RACGP strategy day.
