SEE Group is a family-owned group of companies specialising in infrastructure construction, urban and commercial development, quarrying, material processing and plant management in the public and private sectors.

Established in 1988, SEE Group currently employ over 400 direct employees and 300 labour hire/contractors and has annual revenue of approximately $400M.

The position
The shareholders of SEE Group are seeking to appoint an inaugural independent, non-executive Chair.

This is in addition to then subsequently recruiting two new independent advisory board members over the coming year to ensure additional specialist support for the board.

The board is seeking a Chair who are passionate about SEE Group’s work and meet the selection criteria outlined below.

Key selection criteria
The successful candidate must be able to meet the following criteria.

  1. Well networked in the mining and minerals sector with strong experience in setting up partnerships and identifying new opportunities

  2. The ability to play an active role in strategic planning including critically assessing strategic opportunities and threats for SEE Group

  3. The ability to critically assess company financial and operational performance through the application of skills, experience and personal qualities

  4. Experience at board level including a sound working knowledge of corporate governance systems and frameworks, and an ability to apply that support to SEE Group

  5. The ability to work effectively within a founder/owner company context including liaising with, and gaining the trust and respect of shareholders

It would also be advantageous (not essential) for candidates to have had some background in the mining and minerals projects in Queensland and New South Wales.
Candidates are to have demonstrated strong board and chair experience.

SEE Group are seeking a candidate preferably based in Southeast Queensland, although strong candidates based elsewhere within Australia (and travelling to South East Queensland regularly) are encouraged to apply.

The term of the Chair is 2 years.
The board would ideally like to have the new Chair in place by September 2024. 

This position is remunerated by way of an attractive market competitive base fee.
